My interest in wood sculpting began in 1990 when I met and became good friends with J. Christopher White, a renowned world class wood sculptor. His Christian influence and incredible talent inspired me to take some basic lessons from him and see what God would do with my new found interest. I began making simple things like crosses and walking sticks. As time went on I asked God to anoint me with the ability to do wildlife and Christian oriental sculptures. I primarily use mesquite wood. I look for weathered pieces of wood with unusual shapes and twists. I finish the wood with Danish oil finish and a lot of buffing in between the multiple coats of oil. I have really enjoyed my journey in wood sculpting and I am looking forward to what God is leading me to do with this talent in the future.
I became interested in building folk style harps in 2006. I completed my first harp in 2007 and have built several to date. I have enjoyed this different aspect of wood working. It has posed many new challenges. I am thankful for these talents that God has gifted my hands to do and it is my heart’s desire to fulfill His purposes and bring Him glory with these gifts.
